Allhaven: A Mouseguard Tale
Nebuchadnezzar grew up among the Five Stripes clan. As such, he was immersed from an early age with their oral traditions. Music, memory, and story marked his earliest thoughts. However, from his family he learned about how one can shape the world and work beauty and art into every crafted thing. When he saw the cities of the mice, he found their ways alien and fascinating. They record their memories in places shut off from the world, hiding and forgetting their stories. However, though they’ve lost life, they’ve gained some immutability. They’re less at risk of being wiped away, like the weasels tried to do with the skinks. Nebuchadnezzar wants to marry the two. He dreams of building a temple to the stories of his people, with large common areas for skinks to walk through, seeing statuaries and stained glass, so that stories can be given form. This beautiful, defensible temple, would further see that in many ways, those stories which have protected his clan’s culture, will in the future, protect his clan’s body as well.
